When first diagnosed with breast cancer by another consultant I was in a bad state of shock as h e was very matter of fact but when I went back for the full results I was put under the care of Mr Betal. Immediately we were greeted by a very genuine smile which put you at your ease immediately. He took the time to explain things in great detail and even drew diagrams of what he would do in theatre. He readily answered any questions that any of us had. Theatre day he made me feel like I was the only patient that day with his attentiveness. Before and aftercare by him and his team are second to none. I cannot praise this man highly enough. He is genuine, patient and friendly with a sense of humour. I trust him completely. I will now see Mr Betal in a year's time when all treatment is finished and I look forward to meeting him again.

Mr Betal showed great empathy - he was kind and considerate at all times. He explained in clear, concise language the process prior to surgery and was succinct with regard to the results and further treatment and the steps that would be taken. He was able to reassure me at all times. It should be mentioned that the whole team were extremely kind and caring - from the receptionist to all the nurses and surgical team.

I was seen promptly at the Breast Care Centre Worthing Hospital by Mr Betal. He explained fully the procedure for the surgery and, after surgery, again explained fully the further treatment I would need. I would recommend him for his care and concern and his surgical skills.

Mr Betal and his staff have all been brilliant from my first appointment and throughout my surgery. Everything has been fully explained to me and my family , making things so much easier to understand and cope with. I cannot praise and thank them enough.

Mr Betal and his team looked after me wonderfully after my diagnosis of breast cancer. All took time to listen to our questions, and to explain in simple terms and reassure us. The treatment from discovering the cancer to getting rid of it was so quick I hardly had time to think. After my operations, Mr Betal took the trouble of ringing my husband to let him know how things were. He was kind, attentive, reassuring. The Chanctonbury nurses and other members of staff were very caring and kind, and never rushed or impatient, especially Kathleen. The McMillan nurses took time to phone home to find outhow I was. I felt touched and grateful. All this made what could have been a traumatic experience less frightening, bearable and positive. Thank you all for all your hard work. Never let it be said that the NHS does not treat its patients well.
